HOA and condo water damage

Condo, townhome, or HOA home in DFW with a leak? Who is usually responsible, what to ask, and how we refer you to independent help.

Referral service · Not a contractor

When water moves between units or comes from a common area, who pays and who repairs depends on the association's declaration, bylaws, and the insurance policies involved.

First steps

  1. Stop the water if it is inside your unit, and alert neighbors if water may reach them.
  2. Notify the HOA or management company in writing, with photos.
  3. Call your insurer; condo owners often have an HO-6 policy that covers interior finishes.
  4. Ask the HOA whether its master policy or vendor will handle any part of the repair.

Questions to ask your HOA

How our referral works

We are a referral service, not a contractor. When you send a request, we connect you with an independent restoration contractor who serves your city. You contract with and pay that contractor directly, and you are always welcome to choose someone else.
